Gulls
Gulls are medium to large sized birds, are often in flocks and associated with coastal areas, sometimes feeding inland in tips, particularly in winter when our native bird populations are swollen by immigrants from the continent and elsewhere.
All species, when inland, depend on domestic refuse for food, although black-headed and common gulls feed on agricultural land.
Complaints about gulls are increasing as damage is done to roof fabric by pecking and the corrosive action of droppings. Gulls also cause damage by fouling buildings. Their nests block gutters and down pipes.
Control
Successful control of gulls requires a close understanding of the pest species, it's biology, lifestyle and habits.
