Hazardous Waste Removal

Hazardous waste is dangerous to people, the environment and animals. Under the Hazardous Waste regulations 2005, it is an offence to produce hazardous waste at premises, or remove that waste from premises, unless those premises are either registered with the Environmental Agency or are exempt.

If you are a business producing or disposing of waste, there are various regulations that you need to comply with to ensure that you don't get prosecuted. You can only take certain items to landfill and many waste activities need a licence.

Enserve Commercial are registered with the Environmental Agency and hold a valid Waste Carriers Licence which allow our Enserve Professionals to transport controlled waste.

We have a duty of care to make sure that waste is handled safely and in accordance with the law.

We ensure that all of our waste is passed on to someone who is authorised to take it and wherever possible is recycled.

Items we Recycle

Enserve can dispose of your televisions, Computers, microwave ovens, fridges, freezers and florescent light tubes.

Equipment contaminated with refrigerants, oils or containing ozone depleting foam will normally be classed as Hazardous Waste and require treatment in accordance with Hazardous Waste Regulations 2005.

Enserve, as a licensed Hazardous Waste Carrier, will arrange for the necessary documentation, collection and processing of your wastes in accordance with all relevant legislation.

Most equipment is taken directly to a processing plant where it is dismantled, hazardous components separated and disposed of appropriately, with the remaining material being recycled.

Needles & Sharps

Discarding needles loosely in garbage bins is not only illegal but also a hazard to workers and the public.

The term "Sharp" is often used as an expression for any and all sharp or pointed items, including broken glassware, scalpel and razor blades, lancets, hypodermic syringes with needles, etc., which can cause cuts or puncture injuries.

All needles used in medical care, diagnosis and research, including the manipulation and care of laboratory animals should be considered potentially infectious. Needles and blades pose a risk to those who use them, and needle and blade waste may pose a health risk to those involved in its handling, transportation and disposal.

Packaging

  • All needle and blade waste must be carefully collected in an approved needle and blade waste container.
  • The containers must not be filled beyond capacity to prevent injuries due to overfilling. Needles and blades must never be forcibly pushed into a container.
  • All liquids containing hazardous chemical or radioactive materials must be drained from disposable syringes and collected for appropriate displosal.

Collection Schedule

Sharps waste containers come in 5 litre, 15 litre, and 25 litre capacity sizes. They are fully sealed units, which are collected and incinerated after every service visit.
